This is an almost fully functional free version of the NZ Birding Checklist. It is intended for you to verify that it will run on your mobile device and will meet your needs. (This download does not include photos or sound files - contact me if you want a sample set, these are available for the demo version as well as the full version. My email address is on the About screen after you install the application). The checklist is a complete listing of all NZ birds, as per the official OSNZ publication. There are 375 species, 60 sub-species, including vagrants for mainland New Zealand, Kermadecs, Chathams, Stewart and Sub-antarctic Islands and the Ross Sea Dependency (Norfolk Island is not included). This is NOT a field guide. Basic identification information is included along with optional photos and bird calls, but it is not intended to be used as the primary means of identification. A web link is included to an internet site with more detailed information and photos of the birds. This application is intended to: (a) Keep a record of your lifelist - a record of all the bird species you have seen. (b) Log bird sightings as you see them, optionally recording GPS co-ordinates. (c) Uploading your sightings to eBird using the eBird Import facility (not available in the demo version). The application does NOT include any bird photos or bird calls. You can use your own resources, storing the jpeg and mp3 files on your SDcard. This means that you can have many photos and bird calls without impacting the precious internal phone memory. You can also contact me for a sample set (about 40 MB) of bird photos and calls to get you started (I require your Zoho docs id to make the files available to you). This will require downloading zip files from a website, unzipping and copying the files to your SDcard. This demo version CANNOT save your checklists. If you believe the application meets your needs please upgrade to the NZ Birding Checklist application. Refer to the NZ Birding Checklist application for more information. There are also checklists available for the US, UK and Australia.
