ABOUT Knitter's Toolbox
Into every knitting life a little math must fall. We're here to help. The next time you need to figure out how to space your buttonholes or shaping, or what your stitch pick-up ratio should be, or how large the blanket you're making will be when it's done? Let Knitter's Toolbox do the math, and get back to your knitting! Knitter s Toolbox is a collection of four handy, knitting-specific calculators: - A buttonhole spacer: Given a number of stitches, a number of buttons, and a number of stitches per buttonhole, Knitter s Toolbox will evenly space the buttons and provide instructions for working your buttonhole row. - A gauge widget: Given any two of the following, and Knitter s Toolbox will tell you the third: * A target length * A target stitch or row count * A target stitch or row gauge - A shaping placer: Given a total number of rows, start and end stitch counts, and a number of stitches shaped per shaping row, Knitter s Toolbox will space the shaping rows as evenly as possible over the rows while ensuring that the shaping interval (that is, the number of rows worked even between the shaping rows) remains constant. - A pickup calculator: Given a row gauge, a number of rows in your edge, and a stitch gauge, Knitter s Toolbox will tell you not only how many stitches to pick up total, but will also provide a ratio for pickup (i.e., 2 stitches out of every 3 rows).
