The car app runs in the background of your phone while you’re driving. After each trip you’re given medal. This is based on how you brake, accelerate and drive at appropriate speeds. When the car app is first opened following install, you have to Login using a Confused.com account; you are then kept logged in for 60 days. Once logged in you can close and reopen the App continuously without having to log back in.
