ABOUT Rust

Rust is a drag&drop RPM creation utility and general purpose sandboxing toolkit. You can create RPM packages intuitively with the GUI. Rust may also be used to build RPMs for arbitrary source code, just by doing a 'make install' in the sandbox... Rust is a graphical interface which allows you to create a ´new root´ (a location in the file system which acts as the root of a typical UN*X file system, containing the usual sub-directories) and drag and drop files into selected locations. When all the directories and files are in place, it is a simple matter of using the Package -> Properties... dialog to set up the package specifications and clicking the makeRPM button to create the RPM. The new RPM will be found under ~/rust/RPMS/i386 Click on Help->Overview or see the website at http://www.rusthq.com for more details on using rust. Crust, or console RUST, is a command line utility which acts as the back end to the rust GUI. It performs most of the work involved in creating the packages. It is with crust that you can set up a directory to use as a ´sandbox´ (a chrooted environment) in which you can do things like test installations and suspicious code or do make install to install software within the sandbox and then create an RPM from that installation. More help is available from the crust(1) man page. Released under GNU General Public License version 2.0 (GPLv2)
