This application informs and explains in detail about the engine control system and also comes with how to fix or solve problems with your car engine. Precautions for On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System of Engine The ECM has an on board diagnostic system. It will light up the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) to warn the driver of a malfunction causing emission deterioration. CAUTION: - Be sure to turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative battery terminal before any repair or inspection work. The open/short circuit of related switches, sensors, solenoid valves, etc. will cause the MIL to light up. - Be sure to connect and lock the connectors securely after work. A loose (unlocked) connector will cause the MIL to light up due to the open circuit. (Be sure the connector is free from water, grease, dirt, bent terminals, etc.) - Certain systems and components, especially those related to OBD, may use a new style slidelocking type harness connector. For description and how to disconnect, refer to EL section, “Description”, “HARNESS CONNECTOR”. - Be sure to route and secure the harnesses properly after work. The interference of the harness with a bracket, etc. may cause the MIL to light up due to the short circuit. - Be sure to erase the unnecessary malfunction information (repairs completed) from the ECM before returning the vehicle to the customer TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS - INDEX Engine Fuel & Emission Control System Wiring Diagrams and Trouble Diagnosis PREPARATION ENGINE AND EMISSION CONTROL OVERALL SYSTEM ENGINE AND EMISSION BASIC CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION Multiport Fuel Injection (MFI) System Electronic Ignition (EI) System Air Conditioning Cut Control Fuel Cut Control (at no load & high engine speed) Evaporative Emission System Positive Crankcase Ventilation BASIC SERVICE PROCEDURE Fuel Pressure Release Fuel Pressure Check Fuel Pressure Regulator Check How to Check Idle Speed and Ignition Timing Idle Air Volume Learning ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DESCRIPTION TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS - INTRODUCTION TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS - BASIC INSPECTION TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS – GENERAL DESCRIPTION TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS FOR INTERMITTENT INCIDENT TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS FOR POWER SUPPLY DTC P0100 MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR (MAFS) DTC P0115 ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR (ECTS) (CIRCUIT) DTC P0120 THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR DTC P0130 (RIGHT, -B1), P0150 (LEFT, -B2) FRONT HO2S (CIRCUIT) DTC P0325 KNOCK SENSOR (KS) DTC P0340 CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (CMPS) (PHASE) DTC P0605 ECM DTC P1217 ENGINE OVER TEMPERATURE (OVERHEAT) DTC P1335 CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (CKPS) (REF) DTC P1336 CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (CKPS) (POS) (COG) ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR FRONT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR HEATER REAR HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR REAR HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR FUEL TANK TEMPERATURE SENSOR CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (CKPS) (POS) EGR VOLUME CONTROL SYSTEM EVAP CANISTER PURGE VOLUME CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR (VSS) IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE (IACV) – AUXILIARY AIR CONTROL (AAC) VALVE CLOSED THROTTLE POSITION SWITCH A/T COMMUNICATION LINE SWIRL CONTROL VALVE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE IGNITION SIGNAL A/T DIAGNOSIS COMMUNICATION LINE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION (PNP) SWITCH VARIABLE INDUCTION AIR CONTROL SYSTEM (VIAS) INJECTOR START SIGNAL FUEL PUMP ELECTRONIC CONTROLLED ENGINE MOUNT POWER STEERING OIL PRESSURE SWITCH REFRIGERANT PRESSURE SENSOR ELECTRICAL LOAD SIGNAL MIL & DATA LINK CONNECTORS SERVICE DATA AND SPECIFICATIONS (SDS) Fuel Pressure Regulator Idle Speed and Ignition Timing Mass Air Flow Sensor EGR Temperature Sensor IACV-AAC Valve Resistor Throttle Position Sensor Calculated Load Value Intake Air Temperature Sensor Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Heater Crankshaft Position Sensor (REF) Fuel Tank Temperature Sensor Camshaft Position Sensor (PHASE) Give your assessment, is this application useful? if useful provide the best judgment for this app thank you
