File Guardian is a computer security program that protects your files from being changed. File Guardian allows you to specify a list of files you want monitored and how often you want File Guardian to check these files. If File Guardian finds that one of these files has been changed when it performs this check, it will automatically restore the file to original condition. It can also check folders you select for new files (possibly worms or other malicious files) and delete the suspicious files. It is particularly useful on Web servers to protect your Web site from being infected with viruses or from being vandalized. It can be used in other situations where you do not want files changed. For example, it can be used to check files for virus infection, or run on company computers to make sure that employees do not change files without permission. Runs on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP/ME. When you want to change one of the protected files or add a file to a protected folder, you can deactivate automatic checking by File Guardian. When you reactivate automatic checking, File Guardian will report that the files have been changed or added. It will then give you the options of restoring the old file (or deleting the new one), having File Guardian update its records so that the new file will be protected, or ignoring the changes. You can also skip the automatic checking entirely and simply use the manual checks periodically if you like, although this is not using File Guardian to its full potential.
