Haa Shaviyani is a Brahmi-based script that was used for writing Dhivehi [div], an Indo-Aryan language spoken in Maldives, an island republic in the Indian Ocean and on Minicoy (Maliku) Island, part of the Lakshadweep Island territory of India. The script was used extensively in Maldives, but is not known to have been used on Minicoy. It is no longer used, having been replaced by Thaana as the formal script for Dhivehi in the 18th century. Several records important to the history of Maldives are written in Dhives Akuru.
