The MJ Recorder is Musicjelly s purpose built open beta video recorder that enables you to create and contribute to the Musicjelly online player, installation and apps with your own loops. Choose to record 1, 2 or 4 bars and following a simple tempo and melody guide provided in the app, film anyone singing, playing an instrument or making any sounds. In preparation for your recording you can also choose between a having a count-in intro or a sound threshold. The count-in gives you two bars before the recorder starts filming or otherwise you can choose the threshold mode to automatically start recording when making a sound (set the level of noise around you to change the threshold sensitivity that makes it trigger) Touch the circled arrow " " to choose your device's front or rear camera. When you re happy with your take, upload it to Musicjelly and soon you ll see yourself performing with everyone else in our unique audio-visual compositional experiences that enable anyone to VJ and make music using the contributors original performances. The Musicjelly Recorder is an invitation to anyone to become part of our touring, online and mobile libraries and create with us an ever-growing community. To try the online player or find out when is our next installation go to www.musicjelly.com About Musicjelly Musicjelly is an interactive music-making & new media project based on the principle "everything you hear you see". It's presented as an installation, online and apps for mobile devices. We collect filmed improvising musicians, dancers, vocalists and everyday sounds and turn them into a library of audiovisual loops. Built using new technologies, the videos sync together perfectly and people can trigger the loops in any combination to create their own musical adventures. Collected over a period of three years, the audio-visual loops we have so far are filmed in different locations, from festivals to music schools, people s rooms and homes, arts centres, fields or gardens and anywhere else. The collection has become a multicultural city and the installation, with ambient projections, is an immersive experience into a world of music and infinite mixing possibilities. Musicjelly was created to show the parts that make up songs and to provide a level platform for artists and audience to collaborate. It encourages people to make music, whether they have musical knowledge or not, and gives exposure to the artists who contribute, highlighting the human factor involved in the creation of any music project. We wanted to enable people to discover a diverse musical community, mixing up different characters, cultures and styles, facilitating an audio & visual connection with the artists and revealing further information about the original recording.
