Vatican Radio presents its first App for Android with a strong multimedia identity. News, editorials, live videos, web text, audio channels, all contained in a single app that lets you follow the Pope’s activities in real time. The App is free of charge and the initial version is available in English and Italian.
The application opens onto the Agenda of the Pope’s public appointments. A systemcalled Vatican TIC, devised and produced by Vatican Radio, lets you access allthe text and audio content associated with each event. The Agenda tells you in realtime about papal celebrations broadcast live and produced in collaboration with theVatican Television Centre. The texts of the Pope’s discourses are also available, aspublished on www.vatican.va.
The App also offers a News service that includes the latest information concerningthe Church and the World, broadcast by Vatican Radio’s news programmes. TheRadio section contains five audio channels corresponding to the network of over 70daily programmes in 40 languages produced by Vatican Radio. The same channelsare used for FM, AM, Short Wave and Satellite broadcasts.
The papal Agenda and News functions of this App run on Android 2.3 and higher.The Android 3.0 or higher is needed to access the Radio function and audiostreaming channels. An Android 4.0 or higher is required to view the video streamingof the live broadcasts.
