SmoothWall is an open source firewall application based on the Linux operating systems and designed to be used seamlessly. The program is configured from a browser GUI and does not require any specific knowledge of Linux for installing. Almost any kind of computer can be used regardless of their performance specifications. SmoothWall is configured from the beginning to block all the incoming traffic that is not the result of an outgoing request. The rules files that implement this policy are part of the system configuration and should not normally be edited by other than the configuration procedure.
