Lord Basaveshwara is one of the pioneer's of Indian Democracy. Basaveshwara strived for eradicating untouchability,caste system, bringing equality in society and to attain spiritual enlightenment. The Kudala Sangama Deva was his Nom de plume (mudra) in all his vachana poems in the Kannada language and he is attributed about bringing uniformity and order in managing the vastly scattered Vachanas in Kannada literature.
